When aging siblings Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert request an orphanage through a friend to send them a boy to help on the farm, their message is totally misconstrued. Who they get is an eleven-year-old freckled, red-headed, skinny and loquacious girl they could never wish for! Besides, she has an active imagination which does not seem to go with her age. At least, this is what Marilla thinks and appears to hate.
